Absolute Exotic
Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (*1970, Philippines, Denmark) primarily works with video, and since 2007 also with performances. In her work, she navigates the interspaces between the staging of music videos and the reality of documentaries and between personal confessionals and political commitment. Cuenca graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2002 and has since taken part in many international exhibitions.

Produced as a video clip and later also performed live, Lilibeth Cuenca (in reference to Josephine Baker) embodies the exaggerated stereotypical image of an exotic beauty with a straw skirt and flower garlands in front of a backdrop of palm trees. Racist stereotypes are simultaneously reproduced and critiqued.
Absolute Exotic
is also her first rap song, a formal element she employs in many works.
